Services

FM Conway provides professional Water and Drainage Management services which can be employed independently, or as part of an integrated infrastructure services programme. We provide services such as Asset Cleaning, Specialised Services, Lining, CCTV Surveys, and Confined Space Entry.

Asset Cleaning

FM Conway’s Water and Drainage Management (WDM) team clean over a million gullies per year. Our Gully Trucks are best suited for cleaning blocked gullies. Gullies often get obstructed by natural objects such as leaves and twigs which are easily removed by our team, however when drainage assets become blocked by hardened mud, this can cause flooding, and this is where our team are best utilised.

Our reactive work includes responses to calls, similar to the example above, whereas our cyclical schemes have been put in place to implement a proactive approach to drainage maintenance. By cleaning assets in a planned structure, we are reducing the chances of future floods caused by blockages in the drainage systems.

Super Combi Trucks – are best used to clear floods and are suitable for cleaning mainlines, chambers, manholes, and acco channels.
Recyclers - are mostly utilised in sewage works, overpumps, or when working at a distance to a water source.

Vanpacks – are mostly used in domestic situations such as cleaning small household waste from a gully in your garden.

Portareels – are best used in off-road situations such as when we need to cleanse an asset which is based in a field. These vehicles are utilised alongside our gully trucks and have the controls to jet water from our gully trucks when they cannot reach the asset close by.
Tankers - can take clean water to site when needed, but also remove wastewater and take these to a sewage treatment plant which then treats the water.

We offer specialist services such as:

GPS Surveys

GPS surveys are the collection of data from schemes that contain not only GPS location and cover levels, but also data of the assets surveyed which includes photos and information. The scope of work for drainage investigations involves a lot of GIS-supporting data collection and validation. We use ruggedized equipment with data-collection apps installed to collate this information. Cloud-based apps are ideal for organizations that want real-time, field-to-office data sharing, and minimal intervention on collected data.

DDMS Surveys (formerly HADDMS)

DDMS (Drainage Data Management System) surveys are carried out if there are any suspected faults or weaknesses in the drainage systems which could lead to blockages and flooding. Our crews update information on surveyed assets and pipe work which is then handed back to the client.

Data Processing using ESRI and CAD

We process data using ESRI and CAD using the information from the CCTV surveys we acquire, then process them into a DWG-PDF format that contains both design and condition information for our clients.

Lining

We provide professional Lining services to reinforce the structural condition of pipes (sizes from 75mm up to 1600mm), sewers, drains, and culverts. Our lining services repair faults found within the drainage system, which prevents the possibility of collapse which would cause major blockages within the pipework, resulting in extreme flooding on highways and blockages in the sewers.

Our Lining services provide ‘No Dig Technology’, meaning we can restore drainage assets without digging up land, roads, or pavements, which reduces costs to our clients.

We utilise equipment with built in cameras so the operators can work without the need for a CCTV rig but can also complete larger jobs by using both lining teams and CCTV teams.

Our lining teams use a Bluelight lining system which uses LED light to cure the resin we instil within the pipes, saving time and costs whilst reducing disruption to those travelling and working within the areas we cover.

CCTV Surveys

At FM Conway we use high tech CCTV cameras to identify and assess the condition of drainage pipes, producing surveys which will locate cracks, fractures, holes, leaks, infiltration, and blockages. The surveys provide a written report along with photos, site plan, and full recommendations. This helps our clients and customers understand what is required to return the pipework to its full structural condition of their drainage system.

A full CCTV survey will produce a full detailed plan and layout of drainage assets along with working alongside fully trained GIS crew. GIS (Geographical Information System) is a computer for capturing, storing, checking, and displaying data related to positions on the earth surface. We also offer detailed chamber surveys using a Clever Scanner, which produces chamber inspections, laser profiling, defects, and joint measurements without a man entry.

Confined Space Entry

If we cannot clean an asset from above ground, we can supply a trained team of people to clean it from the inside. We use gas monitors to test for gas before we send an operative in and equip them with a gas monitor and a safety line, to ensure their wellbeing is guaranteed throughout the cleaning process.

Whilst one operative is lowered into the asset to begin cleaning, we also have an operative above ground in case the operative in the asset needs assistance when coming back out.

We have another crew member on the truck controlling the machinery, and we can also organise rescue teams to be present. Using the jet wash, the operative will clean the inside of the asset, and guide the suction hose to clear the excess debris and sludge from inside the asset.
